Cambodia Gambling Halls
There is an appealing history to the Cambodia gambling halls that lie just across the dividing line from next door Thailand, where casino betting is prohibited. Eight casinos are based in a relatively small area in the metropolis of Poipet in Cambodia. This collection of Cambodia casinos is in an excellent location, a 3 to four hour drive from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 biggest betting centers in Asia. Cambodia gambling halls do a huge business with Thai workers and guests from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a few Westerners. The astonishing capital gained from the casinos ranges from 7.5 million dollars to more than 12.5 million, and there are a couple of controls constraints for casino ownership. Ownership is presumed to be mostly Thai; still, financial sources are vague. The borders are formally open from 9:00 a.m. to 1700, and although visas are for all intents and purposes required to cross, there are means around this, as is true of many border crossings.
The initial Cambodia gambling halls opened in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were required to close in the late nineties, leaving only a single gambling hall in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, an anchored bateau gambling den, highlights 150 one armed bandits and sixty tables. The Naga gambling hall never closes with 42 tables of mini-punto banco, four tables of twenty-one, ten of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and one each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.
The 1st gambling hall in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in 1999 and the Golden Crown soon followed. There are one hundred and fifty one armed bandits and five tables at the Golden Crown and 104 slots and sixty eight table games at the Holiday Palace. The latest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort features 300 slot machine games and 70 table games and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six slots and ninety six table games, including eighty seven baccarat (the most dominant game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. In addition, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five slot machines and 66 of the familiar gaming tables, as well as 1 table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the 8 casinos in Poipet, again in a hotel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slot machine games and ninety seven games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of an all-around resort and hotel compound that features a number of conveniences accompanying the gambling den, which offers 10,000 square feet of 130 slot machine games and eighty eight tables.
