Cambodia Casinos
There is an appealing background to the Cambodia gambling halls that lie just over the border from nearby Thailand, where gambling den wagering is not permitted. Eight gambling dens are based in a relatively small space in the municipality of Poipet in Cambodia. This conclave of Cambodia gambling dens is in an excellent area, a three to 4 hour trip from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 largest gambling centers in Asia. Cambodia gambling dens do a thriving business with Thai blue-collar workers and visitors from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a few Westerners. The astonishing capital accrued from the casinos ranges from $7.5 million to over 12.5 million, and there are a few limitations constraints for casino ownership. Ownership is assumed to be mostly Thai; however, funding sources are vague. The borders are ceremoniously open from 0900 to 1700, and even though visas are for all intents and purposes required to pass, there are methods around this, as is correct of most border crossings.
The first Cambodia gambling dens opened in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were forced to close in 1998, leaving just a single casino in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a moored ship casino, contains one hundred and fifty slot machine games and sixty tables. The Naga river boat is open all hours with forty two tables of mini-baccarat chemin de fer, 4 tables of 21, ten of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and a single table each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.
The original gambling den in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in 1999 and the Golden Crown soon followed. There are 150 one armed bandits and 5 table games at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four slot machines and 68 gaming tables at the Holiday Palace. The latest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort features three hundred slot machines and 70 gaming tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six slots and 96 table games, including eighty seven baccarat chemin de fer (the most popular game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. In addition, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 one armed bandits and 66 of the familiar tables, as well as a single table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the eight gambling halls in Poipet, again a part of a hotel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slot machine games and ninety seven table games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in an all-inclusive vacation and hotel compound that features numerous luxuries accompanying the gambling hall, which offers 10,000 sq.ft. of one hundred and thirty slots and 88 gaming tables.
