Cambodia Gambling Dens
There is an interesting story to the Cambodia casinos that lie just over the border from nearby Thailand, where gambling hall wagering is not allowed. Eight casinos are based in a generally small area in the metropolis of Poipet in Cambodia. This conclave of Cambodia casinos is in an excellent destination, a three to 4 hour drive from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 largest gaming locations in Asia. Cambodia gambling halls do a thriving business with Thai workers and guests from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very few Westerners. The amazing capital accrued from the gambling halls ranges from seven and a half million dollars to over 12.5 million dollars, and there are a few restrictions requirements for gambling hall ownership. Ownership is assumed to be largely Thai; although, investment sources are ambiguous. The borders are formally open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and even though visas are apparently needed to pass, there are methods around this, as is real of many borders.
The first Cambodia gambling dens premiered in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were forced to close in 1998, leaving just a single gambling den in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a moored bateau gambling hall, features 150 slot machines and sixty table games. The Naga river boat is open all day and night with forty two tables of mini-baccarat banque, four tables of blackjack, ten of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and one each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.
The 1st gambling hall in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in 1999 and the Golden Crown before long followed. A total of one hundred and fifty one armed bandits and five tables at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four one armed bandits and 68 table games at the Holiday Palace. The newer Holiday Palace Casino and Resort highlights three hundred slot machines and 70 gaming tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slot machine games and ninety six table games, including eighty seven baccarat (the most popular game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Additionally, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 one armed bandits and 66 of the common tables, as well as a single table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the 8 casinos in Poipet, again in a hotel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slot machine games and ninety seven games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of an international vacation and hotel complex that highlights a number of conveniences on top of the gambling hall, which contains ten thousand sq.ft. of 130 slot machine games and 88 table games.
