Cambodia Gambling Halls
There is an interesting history to the Cambodia gambling halls that lie just across the border from next door Thailand, where gambling hall gaming is not legal. Eight gambling halls are based in a generally tiny location in the city of Poipet in Cambodia. This band of Cambodia gambling halls is in a prime destination, a 3 to 4 hour trip from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 most popular gambling centers in Asia. Cambodia gambling dens do a huge business with Thai workers and visitors from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a couple of Westerners. The astonishing income gained from the casinos ranges from $7.5 million to more than 12.5 million, and there are a number of limitations requirements for casino ownership. Ownership is presumed to be mostly Thai; however, financial sources are ambiguous. The borders are ceremoniously open from 9:00 a.m. to 17:00, and even though visas are for all intents and purposes required to cross, there are ways around this, as is accurate of many border crossings.
The original Cambodia gambling dens premiered in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were forced to close in 1998, leaving just a single gambling den in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a docked ship gambling hall, highlights one hundred and fifty slot machines and 60 table games. The Naga gambling den is open all hours with 42 tables of mini-baccarat, 4 tables of chemin de fer, ten of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and 1 each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.
The initial gambling hall in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in the late nineties and the Golden Crown before long followed. A total of 150 slot machines and 5 table games at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four slots and sixty eight table games at the Holiday Palace. The newest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort contains 300 slot machine games and 70 tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six slots and ninety six table games, including 87 baccarat chemin de fer (the most dominant game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Additionally, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five one armed bandits and sixty six of the common table games, as well as one table of Casino Stud Poker. An additional of the eight casinos in Poipet, also in a hotel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slot machines and 97 casino games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of an all-around vacation and hotel complex that contains numerous conveniences aside from the gambling den, which provides 10,000 sq.ft. of 130 slots and 88 table games.
